What a dentist is paid

Across job ads for January–August 2026 the median dentist salary is 4.53 million som, the average 4.79 million and the most common figure 5 million. August alone dipped to a 4.3 million median, but one month is noise — read the period.

For comparison, ads offer doctors in general a median of 6.76 million and surgeons 4.67 million, while the official average for the whole healthcare sector is 4.44 million som (H1 2026). The dentist median sits below the doctor median not because dentists earn less: searches for "стоматолог" pull in assistants and beginners, while "врач" vacancies are more often experienced roles at private clinics.

Salary or percentage: how dentists are really paid

Dentistry runs on two models. A fixed salary is the state polyclinic, or a private clinic hiring a young dentist — that is where the 4–5 million in the ads lives. A percentage of each patient is how an experienced dentist in private practice is paid: income follows the patient load and the average bill, and those terms are almost never published in a vacancy.

So when negotiating, pin down the model, not just the amount: what share of revenue goes to the dentist, who pays for materials and the dental laboratory, and whether there is a guaranteed minimum for the first months before you have your own patient base.

A dentist in a state clinic

In a state polyclinic a dentist is a doctor on the healthcare tariff scale, so the salary moves with budget decisions. From 1 September 2026 budget-sector pay is up 7% (presidential decree UP-115 of 23 June 2026). In pilot district hospitals doctors’ base salaries were raised 20% (decree UP-88 of 19 May 2025), and the medical pay reform running since July 2025 doubles base pay with a qualification certificate.

The state rate is almost always below a private percentage, but it builds seniority and a qualification category — many treat it as the base on top of which private-clinic appointments sit.

Dentist salary in Tashkent

There is no separate statistic for dentists in the capital, but Tashkent averages 12.01 million som, 1.7 times the national figure, and most private dental practices are concentrated there, so offers run above the regions.
